After mulling over the petcock disabling idea, it dawned on me that once I remove the diaphram and plug the vent line, I'd have no way to turn the gas off. This is awfully frustrating. I've found out that as the bike is idling and is just about to stall, if I reach down to the vent line (on the right side of the bike at the carb) and pinch the line with my fingers tightly, the RPM's pick up and the bike stops stalling. Explain that one to me. It's really got me stumped.
I'm going to investigate the possibility of finding a gravity fed petcock (on/off/reserve) that will retro-fit onto the Savage.
